And don't worry, while this might seem intimidating, it's actually pretty simple. It will only take an hour maximum.

What you’ll need:

One watermelon Dry erase marker Large knife Utility knife Large spoon Paring knife or a vegetable peeler Two blueberries or grapes Two Toothpicks

Directions:

  1. Wash and dry the watermelon.
  2. Using the large knife, cut 1/3 off the watermelon at a slight angle.
  3. Place the remaining 2/3 watermelon upright on a plate and use a dry erase marker to draw a line for the mouth. To do this, create a V on each side of the watermelon and then draw up the watermelon and connect each V.
  4. Using a large knife, cut out the mouth. Save the mouth cut-out to be used for the fin later.
  5. Using a paring knife or vegetable peeler, trim back a ½ inch line of the green part of the rind for the teeth.
  6. Use a large spoon to scoop out the watermelon flesh, except the bottom three inches. Be careful with the watermelon flesh as you will cut this into chunks later.
  7. Using a dry erase marker, trace a 2-inch line around the mouth. Then, take a utility knife and remove the green skin. (this will take 15-20 minutes) Finally, cut triangle teeth.
  8. Break a toothpick in half and insert one end into the watermelon, then place a blueberry or grape over the toothpick to create an eye. Repeat on opposite end.
  9. Cut the flesh from the mouth cut-out and use the rind to make the triangular fin.
  10. Break a toothpick in half and insert one end into the watermelon. Insert the other half of the toothpick about an inch away from the first toothpick. Then attach the fin by placing it over the toothpicks.
  11. Cut the remaining watermelon flesh into cubes or triangle shapes and fill the shark.
  12. Serve and enjoy!
